Jardine Bull Elk

The first day, still in our street clothes, we drove up to Jardine to see if there might be some wildlife for all of the very excited photographers who just couldn’t wait to photograph SOMETHING – ANYTHING!! We’d all come a long way and brought LOTS of gear.
Which reminds me…I asked Juan if he ever gets any women on these expeditions (remember I’m the only woman with 7 men)! He said that if he does, it’s usually a guy’s wife coming along for the fun of it. Then I asked if he’s ever had any other artists in his workshops and he said he’s had a few but “none that have equipment as nice as yours.” He said it’s usually the guys who are camera equipment crazy.
But, I looooooove cameras!! And my wish list, after this trip, is looooooong. I realize what else I could have captured if I had a few little (very expensive) additions to what I already have.
As we wound up the icy road to Jardine, a teensey little town up above Gardiner, we indeed saw something very exciting – this gorgeous bull elk with a very nice set of antlers. And here is my brother photographing him – in his jeans! At least he wasn’t wearing cute little flats like I was!

WOW! That’s all I can say!!!
I’m understanding your love for cameras. I just got my first digital SLR and I’m taking a class with it. I am instantly in love with it. I would be out there in my shorts if it meant getting a shot like that!!!

Oh wow, he’s gorgeous! Elk are probably my favorite of the deer family and I was so excited to see them for the very first time when I went to Yellowstone. These photos are just amazing–how cool was that to be able to see such a magnificent animal!
