ITS FINISHED!!!!

Yes, could a painting get interrupted anymore than this poor thing did? Hope you like it! I photographed it and it looked not right, so I took it to the professional photographer that photographs all my work and it STILL doesn’t look quite right. Maybe the PAINTING isn’t quite right! Anyway, the painting looks waaaaaaaaaaaay better than the photograph and that is a rare thing with my work. So, just have to let it go and move on.

And wait till you see what I’m doing now! Kittens for the front of a cat calendar and a puppy for the front of a dog calendar and yes! Then a wolf for a wolf calendar. Barnes & Noble is going crazy! FOUR calendars for 2014 and the deadline is SOON!

What a lovely image, Lesley! This painting turned out superb. It’s really too bad that photos can’t take the same quality of an image as how one can see the painting in real life. I’m sure this is even more amazing in person, as you said. Can’t wait to see how your calendar pieces turn out as well. :)

This painting is beautiful, Lesley! Whatever you think isn’t quite right must be miniscule, because I am quite sure the people who commissioned this will be overjoyed with the outcome. And, it sounds like you have plenty of work to keep you out of trouble in the future! ;)

Painting beautiful as usual. I’m curious what the photos look like. New calendars? I can’t wait – I still have the 2009 Wolves calendar and have put them up as posters after the calendar year was over.

Another wonderful painting! I’m in awe! I tried a kid in my last painting and he’s no where near your kids. Must practice more!!! I’m looking forward to seeing your calendars.

  5. Rita Ria Says:

Lesley, this is another wonderful artwork. I just love the “natural” look and the expressions!
NEW calendars – you are such a busy bee – looking forward to see them!

  6. Kay Witt Says:

I agree, another wonderful painting. I wanna see all the covers for the calendars, especially the wolf! Hope you put it here in stages.

Lesley, I love this painting. There’s alot going on between these 3 and we feel it==the older boy being protective and proud and encouraging–the younger boy being shy and curious and gentle. I love your work so much because I always feel it!!! I notice that the background is a bit darker and cooler than your norm….but I think that helps to feel the warmth elsewhere> it works.

Kay, not to worry, I think I need to do something like seven or eight new wolves for the calendar and I’m sure some of them will make their way onto the blog as a step-by-step!!

    Kim,

I so love it when people say that they “feel” emotion when they look at my artwork. These days I take that as a supreme compliment and enjoy it much more than what anybody can say about my technical ability.

I spent so many years working on the technical aspect of how to be able to work with pastels in a way that I can get my message across. And my message is always this: can we please live in a kinder, more gentle world? And since it appears we cannot, then perhaps we can simply escape for a while into those places that make us feel happy and content and safe.

So if my artwork can do that for anyone, anywhere, for a litle while….…Then I have accomplished my purpose in picking up those pastels every morning. :-)

Wow Lesley, this painting is so beautiful as usual. Looking forward to seeing your calendars. I’m thinking this time I’m going to actually buy one!!! Enjoy your day.

  11. Lesley Harrison Says:

Thanks Roxana!! Taking a few days off….was burning out. Don’t want to do that, it can take months to recover.

Got half way through the dog cover…..

    Hi Lesley,

I have not been familiar with your work until I recently purchased a small painting from a shop in Lake Geneva, WI. It is of a little girl with long brown hair nuzzled into the mane of a horse with a white fence in the background. I am in love with it. It is hanging right by the side of my bed. It makes me happy beyond words!

Lesley, I love this painting,Thank you for sharing this with us.

You’re welcom Jacky. I delivered it a few weeks ago and the boy’s mother and father were ecstatic with it.

    There’s the reward. :-)
